ABOUT Wildlife Works
WHY WE LOVE THEM
Wildlife Works, but only with the help of the community. Their flagship wilderness project employs over 70 rangers, land managers, greenhouse workers and other locals. Their jobs with Wildlife Works allow them to support their families and send their children to school while working to preserve the wildlife that has become more of an asset to them alive than dead. While saving the animals, Wildlife Works is also doing its part to better the lives of the people in the community. They are building schools, funding scholarships, improving agricultural practices and providing health care. To life, in all its natural forms!
On the land next to the Wildlife Works sanctuary, they built and operate an EcoFactory, aptly named for its carbon neutrality. The factory employs local women who cut and sew the Wildlife Works fashion collection entirely from organic cotton.
Wildlife Works champions what they call "Consumer Powered Conservationism," where they harness the power of the global consumer to create innovative and sustainable solutions for wildlife conservation. When you buy a Wildlife Works product, you become an agent for conservation. Sporting this label shows your refusal to sit passively while the last wild things in the last wild places disappear. Wildlife Works created an 80,000-acre wildlife reserve in Kenya, which is part of the larger Kasigau Corridor REDD Project, effectively protecting an entire wildlife corridor between two major national parks. So that's Where the Wild Things Are!
They certainly don't cut trees, but Wildlife Works sure cuts to the chase. The good they do has a direct impact on saving endangered and threatened wildlife around the globe. That's right, direct. There is no middleman, because nature can't and doesn't wait. The aid is immediate, but the results are enduring.ABOUT Wildlife Works Wildlife Works' mission is to harness the power of the global consumer to create innovative and sustainable solutions for wildlife conservation.
We call it Consumer Powered Conservationsm
When you buy a Wildlife Works product, you become an agent for conservation. You're wearing the brand that says you won't sit quietly by while the last wild things in the last wild places disappear forever.
The jobs that we create to make our products and the money we invest in forest communities has a direct impact on saving endangered and threatened wildlife around the globe.
That's right, direct. There's no middleman or non-profit that the funds go through to get to where they are most needed. Our business model is founded on developing an enduring economic basis for wildlife survival.
Our first proven project was our wildlife reserve in Kenya-the 80,000-acre Rukinga Wildlife Sanctuary, which is now the heart of our 500,000 acre Kasigau Corridor REDD Project, protecting an entire wildlife corridor between Tsavo East and West National Parks.
This flagship wilderness project now employs over 70 rangers, land managers, greenhouse workers and others all hired locally.
On the land next to the sanctuary we built and operate our EcoFactory (carbon neutral, of course) where local women we employ cut and sew our own organic cotton fashion collection.
And while we were at it, we're building schools, funding scholarships, improving agricultural practices, providing health care and adding to the betterment of the community as a whole. These jobs have radically changed the way the local community views wildlife. Before Wildlife Works, they saw wildlife as either bush meat or money.
They were poaching, clear-cutting and rapidly destroying their natural environment.
With Wildlife Works, they can earn enough to feed their families and send their children to school without killing wildlife or destroying their environment. The wildlife has become an asset to them worth much more alive than dead. The poaching has stopped and the animals are returning.
