ABOUT Nomi Network
WHY WE LOVE THEM
Nomi Network adapts their work to the specific needs of the region to maximize the impact they will have. In Cambodia, they assess and strengthen various non-government organizations for their manufacturing capacity, labor force and skill-set, then provide relevant job training for at-risk women. In India, Nomi Network implemented the Survivor-Centered Sustainable Livelihoods Project, a 24-month project that provides targeted vocational training to a core group of women in community-based groups in India. Once these women have learned the necessary skills, they will provide mentorship training to other women in their groups. This survivor-based model fosters the leadership of survivors and at-risk women to serve as positive, empowered examples in their local communities. In the US, Nomi Network helps connect consumers with survivor-made products and invites retailers to distribute these products, thus bringing awareness to the cause. They also partner with local businesses and anti-human trafficking organizations to host awareness-raising events, panel discussions and conferences.
Nomi Network is a fair trade certified organization that promotes both fair wages and the use of environmentally sustainable material in creating every product. They use locally sourced, eco-friendly material to highlight the women's cultural heritage while allowing them to work with material that is familiar to them. Their current collection of products from Cambodia is made from recycled Cambodian rice bag material, while their Indian collection will utilize locally sourced material from its namesake region.
