ABOUT Greenpacha
WHY WE LOVE THEM
Community
Greenpacha has a message for consumers: If you're going to consume, consume consciously! By selling handmade hats, Greenpacha is doing more than making a statement. They are taking measures to reform consumerism. Because they've opted out of mass production, there is a limit on how many hats Greenpacha can produce. That, and the fact that only 2,000 weavers exist who have mastered the technique required to create a Greenpacha hat. Though they intend to keep their product output minimal to preserve the charm of creating limited edition products, they intend to make their community outreach maximal. By working together with likeminded people, Greenpacha hopes to see their style of business and of course, their fashion style, catch on.
Eco-Friendly
A whole lot of love goes into each Greenpacha hat. Each hat is hand made from hand-harvested toquilla palm straw. The harvesting process consists of cutting the leaves, boiling them to remove the chlorophyll, then drying the straw in the sun. Once sufficiently dry, the weaving begins. Starting at the crown of the hat, they work their way down to the brim and "ta da!" One stylish hat.
Humanitarian
Tip your hat to Greenpacha for supporting the art and craft of weaving in Sig Sig, Ecuador. Greenpacha donates 2% of their total sales to these weaving communities, but their support doesn't stop with dinero. They forge relationships with the weavers by traveling and spending time with them, then imparting design and production ideas to improve their efficiency. Most importantly, Greenpacha helps the weavers take pride in their work for carrying on a noble family tradition and building a better world, one hat at a time.
ABOUT Greenpacha We are a young company of hats based in La Jolla, California. Greenpacha was born from a dream during a surf trip in Ecuador. We discovered and followed the Hat Trail. Then we decided to spread the word not only because we loved the hat process, but also because we believe that we can build a better world when we decide what to buy and from who. The hats we bring are 100% handmade by weaving communities in Ecuador. These families have kept this noble tradition for centuries making the panama hat famous, widely known as the finest straw hat in the world. Made by toquilla palm straw, a sustainable palm that grows in the ecuadorian coast, this hat is totally natural and eco-friendly. Greenpacha brings to you the best of this latin american tradition, combined with good design and a vision of engaging like minded people towards a Better World. We donate 2% of the total sales to the weaving community of Sig Sig. With your purchase you are helping keep this tradition and support the Greenpacha Cause.
