ABOUT 31 Bits
WHY WE LOVE THEM
31 Bits believes in a holistic approach to development, this means caring for beneficiaries beyond their economic and educational needs. In addition to sustainable income and educational programs, 31 Bits helps train women in counseling and leadership. The women themselves then lead Community Groups, strong support systems for everything from mental health and prayer to keeping up on finances.
One woman's trash is another woman's treasure, after some seriously gifted craftsmanship, that is. Each piece of jewelry is handmade using 100% recycled paper and other local materials, undergoing a stunning transformation into a bold bracelet or elegant necklace.

The business provides beneficiaries access to the international market, enabling them earn an instant income and provide homes, food, and education for their families. 31 Bits provides benefits like English lessons, literacy training, financial and vocational training, and health education empowering women to lift themselves out of poverty.
31 Bits is committed to working with each woman until she has graduated from the program and attained a sustainable means of income within her own community. They currently work with 108 women in Gulu, Uganda, purchasing jewelry from each woman on a monthly basis and providing them with an immediate, consistent, and fair income. By providing numerous development programs like literacy and financial training, 31 Bits equips the women to develop lasting careers and attain social equity going beyond a fair wage to truly invest in these women's futures.ABOUT 31 Bits 31 Bits began in 2008 when five college students from Southern California traveled to Uganda and met six amazing women...
