DESCRIPTION My fixer and I snuck into the refugee camp through the back entrance to avoid the Bangladeshi authorities, who aren't fond of photographers. Early morning mist clung to huts housing tens of thousands of Rohingya, Muslim refugees who fled discrimination in their native Burma. Eventually, we came upon a mud and thatch school house on the edge of camp. In one corner, a child sat alone, looking at sketches of fish drawn along the wall. His continued interest in things beyond the camp struck me: even amidst despair, children can maintain their curiosity.
