Community
Nomi Network adapts their work to the specific needs of the region to maximize the impact they will have. In Cambodia, they assess and strengthen various non-government organizations for their manufacturing capacity, labor force and skill-set, then provide relevant job training for at-risk women. In India, Nomi Network implemented the Survivor-Centered Sustainable Livelihoods Project, a 24-month project that provides targeted vocational training to a core group of women in community-based groups in India. Once these women have learned the necessary skills, they will provide mentorship training to other women in their groups. This survivor-based model fosters the leadership of survivors and at-risk women to serve as positive, empowered examples in their local communities. In the US, Nomi Network helps connect consumers with survivor-made products and invites retailers to distribute these products, thus bringing awareness to the cause. ABOUT NOMI NETWORK Nomi Network is a non-profit organization dedicated to ending human trafficking. We create jobs for survivors of trafficking or women at risk by creating demand for our Buy Her Bag, Not Her Body� product line.

The Method: Nomi Network focuses on increasing the financial independence of women who are vulnerable to trafficking. We use a three-fold strategy:

1. Improve the design and quality of the products they produce;
2. Use modern marketing techniques to increase their access to the marketplace; and
3. Increase our partner's capacity to hire mo re women at-risk and survivors of human trafficking.

Our goal is to increase capacity for employers to provide living wages to populations women at-risk and survivors of human trafficking. In 2009-2010, we expanded our partner's to expand their workforce from 23 to 80 employees. We also partner with retailers and encourage consumers to purchase products made by women at-risk or survivor's products. We ultimately aim to create 100,000 jobs by 2025.
