ABOUT Good & Fair Clothing
WHY WE LOVE THEM
Look no further than the brand's name. Good & Fair is just that. They use only organic cotton in the construction of their garments, which are certified organic by the Global Organic Textile Standard. They source their cotton from farmers who are paid fairly and adhere to organic standards, meaning the cotton is completely pesticide-free. Good & Fair even partners with a cooperative that provides training to farmers in the practice of organic farming. Good? Check. Fair? Check.
At the heart of Good & Fair is sustaining responsible economic systems. From farm to factory, they ensure fairness from the source to the finished product. Both cotton farmers and garment sewers are paid fair trade wages. Additionally, garment sewers are provided a safe production facility, the ability to retain worker rights and are provided free schooling for their children. Fittingly, Good & Fair is a license of Fair Trade USA. Their clothing is Fair Trade Certified, their supply chain is Fair Trade from farm to factory and they work with Fair Trade Certified production facilities. Good & Fair is one of the first clothing companies to sell Fair Trade USA certified goods. Bragging rights well deserved.
ABOUT Good & Fair Clothing
Here at Good & Fair Clothing, we are dedicated to using only fair trade and organic materials. We ensure fair wages for cotton farmers and garment workers internationally, as well as provide resources for those fighting to get out of poverty within our own community. Operating this way is challenging for sure, but we believe it's work worth doing. The clothes we wear tell a story. Good & Fair Clothing gives us the opportunity to tell a story of respect, dignity, fairness and ultimately, love. People you have never met, whose hands make our garments and farmed the cotton, were treated with respect and retained their dignity through honest work. They were paid fairly for their time and energy. Help us change the world by supporting fair trade and organic supply chains, like the one used to make our garments. Together our clothes can tell a better story: a Good & Fair story. THE STORY OF GOOD & FAIR CLOTHING Even in his favorite pair of jeans, Shelton Green just wasn't comfortable. He didn't like the idea of people across the planet earning less than their work was worth for the sake of his tee shirts — or his button-downs or boxers. So he resolved in 2008 to go a year without buying clothes, rather than support an industry that often pays unfair wages to maximize its own profit. Now he's doing his best to steer clear of the global problems linked to the mass production of "fast fashion." Continuing to keep that commitment isn't always easy — like the time he had to buy a hoodie at a baseball game when the weather turned cold. That's why Shelton founded Good & Fair Clothing. Finding clothing options that are good to the earth and fair to people can be tough and he wanted to simplify the search. G&FC clothes are designed with organic materials from collar to cuff. We are a fair trade clothing line using environmentally sustainable methods and a visible supply chain. We are doing our part; using fair trade organic cotton from farmers around the world and using only Fair Trade Certified production in order to make our clothing. We want to make it easy to be good and fair. FAIR TRADE CERTIFIED Good & Fair Clothing is a licensee of Fair Trade USA (formerly, TransFair USA). Our clothing is Fair Trade Certified from the bottom up. We work with Fair Trade Certified production facilities to produce our tee shirts, ladies underwear and men's boxers. Our supply chain is fair trade from the farm to the factory. This is new territory in the fair trade world. We are one of the first clothing companies to sell Fair Trade USA certified goods. 100% ORGANIC COTTON Our cotton garments are certified organic by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). The farmers who grew the cotton used in our garments were paid fairly for their cotton and farmed according to organic standards.
