The money goes to a school in the poorest community in Dharamasala where Dolma founder Melinda Haselton taught in 2006. From material to shipping to marketing to disposal, every step of Dolma's manufacturing process is c onscious of the environment. Their products are made from such materials as hemp and tree-free paper. They ship their products by sea to reduce the use of fossil fuel that is used with air travel, they print all marketing material on 100% post-consumer recycled paper and they re-use, recycle and compost discretionary materials whenever possible. ABOUT DOLMA Dolma was founded in 2006 with the vision of fighting poverty through fair trade and education. We work with empowerment centers for women in India to bring their beautiful accessories and home decor to the U.S. market. In addition to abiding by fair trade standards of fair wages, women's empowerment and environmental responsibility, we donate 15% of our profits to educate girls and women living in poverty.
Dolma is the Tibetan word for the female Buddha. Legend says that she is the most compassionate person to have ever lived. She is the inspiration behind our work to help others by g iving them the tools they need to help themselves. Read More...
