DESCRIPTION Wrap yourself in soft, cozy comfort with this fun checkered scarf from India. 108 Mala’s scarf collections are handmade, fair-trade and eco-friendly, using natural cotton and silk fabrics with azo-free dyes. Supporting female artisans and their communities, these products are produced in the forests of Eastern and Central India. This blue checkered scarf with glimmers of silver threads, is woven with rayon and cotton for a silky, lightweight feel. The scarf measures 36" square and can be dry-cleaned or washed in cold water.

Artisan Story

108 Mala works with indigenous artisans and craft communities to support livelihoods producing, developing, and designing ethically sourced and beautifully made products for their customers. Working with local partners and artisan cooperatives, women artisans have been given skills to sustain their families’ livelihood through weaving fabrics, block-printing materials, and painting on raw silk. 108 Mala works with numerous female artisans who sell products to help stave off poverty and build small entrepreneurship ventures.

ABOUT 12 SMALL THINGS 12 Small Things is a collection of fashionable, fair trade products supporting artisans in economically challenged communities around the world. The twelve artisan groups featured each season have been introduced to us by fair trade wholesalers, nonprofit organizations and consultants who work directly with the craftspeople. We strive to represent artisans from different parts of the world, whose stories we find compelling and worth sharing. Occasionally we also feature products from American artisans who donate a portion of their proceeds to help to support non-profit organizations in their c ommunities. Our products are chosen for their quality and value with an eye for both contemporary and classic style. By supporting these organizations and buying their fairly traded products, we are helping these artisans earn a living wage, send their children to schools, and afford daily necessities that we often take for granted.
